nopes from scratch, i havent read that book.

the normal people riding dragons to fight evil and stuff

OKay well in the book there is dragon riders that fight an evil thread like substance that burns into the planet from their moon that comes close to pern every once and awhile. Only dragon fire can kill the stuff and they have to burn it before it hits the ground or else it starts to grow! anyway the dragons are psycic and can go in between its like teleporting through time. but in there its colder than ice and If you dont get out before you cough 3 times you die and the dragon too. the dragons have links with the riders so If a rider dies then the dragon commits suicide it cant live with out its rider it hurts too much. same vice versa except humans can move on easier. also there are only a handful of colors that mean things.

gold is the queen it lays the eggs you have to have a gold to have a home. only girl riders get a gold.

there is green which is like a miniature gold but cand make a gold egg only golds can. boys and girls can get this dragon.

Blue mates with greens these are boy dragons.

Brown. low caliber but fast these are also male.

Bronze. mates with the gold. fast cunning and powerful! these are also male dragons only boys can get these.

The dragon picks the rider. not vice versa not everyone gets a dragon. and If the dragon dosent like you when it hatches it will vanish.

kinda sucky isnt it? Great story though amazing books. Just had to explain this sorry.

its interesting

in this newer group of mine i was thinking that either one can choose the other if one doesnt want a rider they dont have to have one.

the only links between them is that if the two are killed in battle their element dies permanently..unless another dragonrider learns how to use that element.

Thats kinda cool idea. humm. have you read niomi novecks work about temerare? those dragons are elemental as well.

hum. trying to think of cool ideas. I will participate too though this is just too cool to pass up! so can the elements combine? or just stay flat? like toxic fire or grass water? the first one would be tight. hummm. can they change into human form or are they just regular dragons?

i havent heard of that book before.

it depends wich element you choose..like fire,anything associated to it like lightning or lava.

but yes they can combine but in the condition if you happen to learn more than one element at the time of death you can choose to either be a totally new element or a mix.

but dragons stay dragons like humans stay human...unless they are a new element.:3
